Motivational Monday: Travel Bug

My husband and I were married three and a half years before we got pregnant because our goal was to travel before we started a family.  I am so happy we took the time to travel to some parts of the worlds such as Italy, Mexico, the Dominican,  Virgin Islands. and all over the U.S.  So far, my absolute favorite place I have been is Sorrento, Italy.  I could stay there forever.  The charm, the food, the wine, the people; it was the most amazing energy I have ever experienced in my travels.  My goal is to see much more of Europe when Gavin gets a little older.  My mom grew up in Poland and visiting her home country is definitely on my list.  I'd love to see the country in where my family was started.

A lot of people never travel once they have children, until they are older, however I was given advice from several parents that if you get children comfortable with traveling young, it will be easier as they get older.  Since Florida is only a about a 2.5 hour flight from Connecticut, we decided to take our very first family trip in April.  I have been to Florida several times but mostly Southern Florida.  This time, we will be staying in Marco Island which I hear is very family-friendly and beautiful.  I am hoping my first travel with a baby will go smoothly.  I hope he loves to travel as much as we do.  Any advice from you traveling moms?

Ever After,
Jamie

  3. We have been married for 5 and 1/2 years, and haven't had children yet for the same reason - we wanted to travel as much as can first. We've been fortunate to see some amazing places, and can't wait to see more! Once we have kids, we will still try to travel as much as we can. One trip a year by ourselves, and one with the kiddos so they learn to love traveling as much as we do. Fun fact - we grew up in CT, and have been living in FL for the past 5 years. You'll love Marco Island <3

  4. Love that photo so much and I think it was a great idea that you guys did a lot of traveling before becoming parents. You are absolutely right, you can still travel even with kids, but the travelling is definitely different to the kind of travel young couples without kids do so it's great to make time in life for both versions!

  6. I've always wanted to go to Italy, I've heard the food is extremely delicious and nothing to be compared to the East Coast! The very first place that my husband and I traveled to together was The Dominican Republic, Punta Cana, and we loved it! I'm second generation on both sides, so it's definitely been a desire of mine to visit the countries my family came from. It's definitely special; I hope you get to go to Poland soon :) Have a wonderful day and week ahead, beauty, and thanks so much for sharing!

  7. Although I'm not a mom yet I couldn't agree how important it is to start traveling with children early to get them comfortable. I also think as they get older it's such a great learning opportunity for them to be able to see different parts of the world, try new foods, and see how other people live. I agree with you that the Amalfi Coast is also one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Can't wait to hear about your trip to Marco Island!

  8. Yes!! I agree! I want to go on at least 1 big trip every year until we have kids (which is a few years out). And by big trip I mean at least 2 weeks. I would do more but money and time off work are a real thing haha.
